How to add a tip jar to TikTok or Instagram

Updated September 2026

The bio is one link. The graphic has to carry the network.

TikTok and Instagram will sell you platform coins, gifts, and badges. They will not, as of this writing, give you a first-party USDC tip button that pays a wallet you control. You add the jar yourself: one labelled link, one QR, and a network written in words a thumb can read.

There is no native button

In-app gifts stay inside the app's ledger. That is fine if you want their cut and their payout calendar. It is not a self-custody tip. If you want USDC or Bitcoin to land in an address you hold, you leave the app for one tap. The same constraint is why Linktree needs a workaround and why a blog sidebar is just a picture plus a label.

What to put in the bio

Both apps give most accounts a single website field. Use it for one of these, not a raw 44-character address:

Write the network in the link title. A Solana USDC address pasted as “tip me” is how people send Ethereum USDC into a void. Your own wallet has to be watching that network before you publish it.

Stories and pins

A Story or a pinned comment can hold the QR image. Export the code from the generator, put the network above it in your own type, and keep the address in a caption people can copy. Do not screenshot a seed phrase. Do not screenshot an exchange deposit screen that includes a memo you will later rotate.

TikTok bios and Instagram bios get scraped. Treat the address as public forever. That is another reason to use self-custody for the jar and an exchange only when you cash out.

Look like yourself

A sudden “send crypto to this new address” story is how impersonators work. Use the same name, the same handle, and a page that has been on your domain or your usual link-in-bio for more than a day. Point people at the scams that target creators if your comments fill with “support” accounts offering to “fix a failed tip.”

After the first real tip, confirm it on an explorer so you know the graphic is pointing at a live door.

This is general information, not financial advice. Platform rules on off-app payments change. If a link is blocked, host the QR on a page you control and put that URL in the bio.

Quick answers

Can I take USDC tips inside TikTok or Instagram?
Not as a first-party wallet payout. Use the bio link, a Story QR, or a Linktree item labelled with the network.
What should the bio link say?
Name the asset and network, for example 'USDC tips (Solana)', not just 'crypto'.
Is a raw wallet address OK in the bio?
A short page or labelled link is clearer. A 44-character address in a bio is easy to mistype onto the wrong chain.
